Lying alone in the king sized bed
I stare where the curtains billow
Watching the moon light up the dark sky,
My hand across your pillow.

I smell the musky male scent
You always leave on the sheets,
And still feel the tingling sensations
I can't wait for you to repeat.

I want so much to find the dreams
Where you're here beside me and warm
And I'm never alone or frightened
Of the lightening or the storm.

But one week a month I lie here
And stare with a sleepless lament
For the five days you work nights
And I pretend to remain content.

Five stars, but shouldn't it be lightning?

I love this poem.

I can't relate, having be married forever to a man who's home ever night, but I loved the imagery.

I smell the musky male scent

You always leave on the sheets,

And still feel the tingling sensations

I can't wait for you to repeat.

My only query is the sheets/repeat rhyme in this stanza. It snapped me out of the dreamy mood the of poem and into awareness of the rhyme. I am not sure what word would work better (maybe replicate). This is a minor quiblle though. I love this poem.

I've been there. Well written. Enjoyed it.
