I want to be that cat
That cat you held yesterday.
You know? The one who fell asleep in you arms.

I can almost see it
She crossed your path and meowed
You stopped. Picked her up an put her in your lap.

You put down your groceries
You sat in the stairs, happy
You grinned. You are a cat lover and she knew.

She looked at you
With feline "You are mine" eyes
You smiled. You pet her, happy to hear her purr.

Her eyes closed happily.
She loved the feel of your hands
She slept. Comfortably snuggled in your arms.

I want to be that cat
That cat you held yesterday.
You know? The one who is luckier than me.
