i see your face when i open my eyes,
even more clearly when i close them
your thoughts tear through my head
whenever i think i am alone
you steal my fear with eloquent writing

i hear your voice when we speak
i hear it louder when we don't
carrying me as the wind carries sound
it cradles me, surrounds me
you comfort me with remembered words

i feel your touch in my dreams
it burns me, burns through me
as my eyes open and awareness sets in
my fingers run everywhere i have felt yours
you catch my breath with barely a thought

i taste your lips the moment before i wake
and force my eyes to close again
i pull the blanket around to me
wishing it were your arms
you redefine my desires, and my needs

i stare up at the stars at night
i wonder how you can be so far
when i feel you inside of me
your soul in the air i breathe
you create intangibles so strong, i touch them

i hold my tongue - the one thing you can tell me
but i cannot let myself say yet
i bite literally bite my tongue now
the pain distracting, just enough to keep me safe
you draw out my deepest passion, you draw out my love.
