Do you mind
if I dream of you,
touch your chest
with imaginary fingertips,
kiss nonexistent lips
and shiver in your ghostly arms?

If you ever knew
how much I need
that make believe heat
to hold off cold reality
so grim it makes me weep
could you forgive
my necessary longing?

Would you forgive
the dream I have to keep
of a lover
who was was never there
and is no more than a friend?

A familiar feeling...

that I think many more people can relate to than we would expect. You expressed it well.
