She looks at him
as princess cut diamonds
fall from her eyes
cutting her cheek
she doesn't notice the blood
as it slides and streams
past her pointed beak nose
and pools in her collarbone
staining her lily white skin
her blood lined face
and diamonds at her feet
he can't help but notice
can't help but feel
pity as for a homeless puppy
hiding under a piss soaked box
so he takes her hand
in his, rough and calloused
he kisses her fingertips
as though each is a fine rose petal
and whispers without words
into her dainty fig ears
a story spun of golden thread
he'd wrapped around his brain
waiting for the moment
when he could pour his overflowing
pitcher of poison
into the hapless void
of innocents
