Let's have a lawn filled with crocus and scillia
every spring
the colors will poke out of the brown lawn
like an impressionist painting

Let's grow fruit trees
and bake pies and make jellies
we'll create family recipes
passed from our children
to our grandchildren
to our great grandchildren

Let's plant pines
one for each child
grandchild
one for each year we're married

Let's put a magnolia in the front yard
where there's a sunny open spot
and every spring
when the light is right
I'll rush outside barefoot
to capture those perfect shots

Let's build a patio in the back
where you can grill
and I can bring you beer
or wine
or whatever your heart desires

Let's put in a play structure
where the kids can climb
and play
and dream
and hide

Let's make life what we want
a lawn of crocus
a yard of trees
a family
you and me
together we will.

Lovely and wistful

it's a hope chest of a poem, plainly put but full of image after image that unfolds to paint the whole picture. Thank you for the read!

Spoken from the heart. It was very beautiful and was easy to picture.

Been there done that, was a lot of fun. Need a jar of jelly?
