Ere long, the man who put you here to play
will reappear to take his charge away
and when he asks you how you liked your day
you do not shrug, although you couldn't say...

it was so good of him to bring you here,
and you would really hate it to appear
ungrateful, so you show as much good cheer
as you can muster - and you do not sneer.

Oh, and by the way...

..."you couldn't say" -- why, because there's nothing to say, or because it would "appear ungrateful" to say anything negative? Nicely done, this ambiguity!

*chuckles*

In Jamaica, we'd say. "What a mannasable lickle pickney, ee?" Meaning "What lovely manners the child has, eh?"

And yet, one can hear the wheels turning inside, the running commentary, the sardonic rebuttal of everything her outward appearance suggests. And yes, this is DEFINITELY a girl! LOL! We've got "manners" down pat!

Needless to say, I like this a loi!
