Unrelenting cycle
From death until birth
A new entrancing figure
Renewing my life on earth
They come
And then they go
The boys I had
The men I know
They profess their love
And undying devotion
It ebbs and flows
Like tides of the ocean
It isn’t constant
It isn’t true
They hold my body
Then leave it bruised
Men, women
They are all the same
They show you one face
And then they change
Where is my lover?
Who doesn’t wear a mask?
Who looks on love as love?
And not a task?
I am waiting
As I have always been
With open heart
Willing to let it in…

Come to me

Thought provoking

Raises good points about people's deceitful intentions and the issues of trust we must face. Nicely done!

Interesting..

I really felt this poem, although I feel the wording can be indulged a wee bit more, the honesty and longing crawls under ones skin.. made me think of one of my favorite quotes:

"Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within."

ty for the write..

Du~
