My Darkness

Never touch my blackened soul,

You won't come out alive.

There's ghouls and demons hiding there,

Who don't appreciate your jibes.

They live within where shadows dwell,

Anticipating your visit.

Don't come in, you can't go back,

No matter how you wish it.

Darkness is my treasured friend,

One that I never go without.

It and I go hand in hand,

Of that there is no doubt.

Don't think I want you to save me

For that's the furthest from the truth.

If you try, I'll turn away,

Remaining deaf and aloof.

Sometimes all I want

Is for the darkness to take hold.

When in a rage, it quickly does,

Before reticently growing cold.

Yes, darkness dwells within this body,

Leashed but dangerous still.

I keep it contained by holding my temper

With a solid, iron-clad will.

Now, I dare you to taunt me,

To make my darkness come out.

But I warn you, when you do,

You'd better be ready to cry out.
