Excess of work makes Jill a trifle dull.
Too many sources never have been tapped
to make of me the one I might have been –
just pleasant mediocrity to lull
each sense that life this way might be inapt,
it fits too well this place I'm living in,

where sexuality reads loneliness,
a range of feelings I will never share...
Expectancy turned bitter, some sweet day.
Life's only an unprepossessing mess
that I can't change because I wouldn't dare
to throw the little good we have away.

How sad!

To be forced to hold on to something we don't want, in order not to lose something we have is a hard thing!
