The stars all in their place
I like my cell phone ringing
With the picture of your face,
That wisp of expectation
A suggested rendezvous
How about a coffee
A chance to be with you,
We sit close together
Four-dollar cardboard mugs
Your perfume smells delightful
I feel familiar tugs,
You talk about the weather
I feel your body heat
Discuss the morning news
I'm restless in my seat,
You talk about your partner
Your kid and your job
Face down in the trenches
That hand grenade lob,
Explodes in my brain
As you say you gotta run
You kiss me on the lips
Both agony and fun.
I like this one and I am with twelve that this is the better of the set. I can relate to an experience so awesome that you keep writing poems about it till you hit it.
my sunday morning stroll through LIT poems, drinking my morning coffee, rarely I comment, but the coffee inticed me to type, great title that lured me in, and the poem itself, worth a comment, thumbs up ~.-
The words slip so naturally and breathlessly from verse to verse
