through the coffee shop window
I noticed the clouds were the colour of a pigeon's wing.
then I saw him
he was sitting a couple of tables over
ignoring his coffee in favour of his paper.
he never even noticed me.

how could he not notice me when my feelings are so strong?

I was chilled by the wind that came in the door with her.
she sat down with him
and he tongue kissed her.
as he turned to reach her mouth, I noticed the 'forever' tattooed on his neck;
the matching one on my wrist burned.
finally he noticed me, smiled and gestured hi.

how could he smile at me when my feelings are so strong?

they leave together;
it starts to rain.

I love...

life's little ironies.
