Wedged between the potters tent
and a jewelry booth,
good traffic all day long,
don't over sell.

Enjoy face to face contact
be sure and flash a smile,
that lingering glance
payment enough for now.

Some return and purchase,
I'm good at what I do.
A few rebuke and waddle on,
don't understand the game.
Flirting is just friendship,
until the sale is made.

Winking in your direction

...you mean you were just flirting?? Now what am I supposed to do with this 10' high brass statue of Rocky Balboa? Damn.

Well done, Sand. Tease.

Nice lines

Well written, Spike. I could NEVER do sales. I want them all to LOVE my work.

I've worked in...

flea markets/antique malls. I grew up knowing how to play the game. All customers want a good deal, and some want to feel a connection with you. So, you're their buddy, a flirt, a confidant while you wait for the sell.

Good poem, with true words that I can relate to.

As always...

...your poetry provides well for the mind and eye. Thank you.

somehow

this reminds me of the little flea market that used to be ( still is?) in Garden City Beach SC...I spent so many hours there, meeting people and plundering through their old magazines and what-nots. Thanks for the trip back Sandspike, I enjoyed it very much :)
