Like a raccoon in a dumpster
you take what you want,
dig through the muck
and leave nothing of yourself behind.
It’s feast and frolic,
and run away home.

Not a good match
for a loyal dog of a girl.
Fetch
and heel,
everyday girl.
Worn shoe and easy fit,
comfortable boot,
girl.

I try and forget you
and your masked eyes.

I pace uneasy behind the screen of the door,
safe in the house.
Outside
your eyes,
glitter in the dark.
