Snowdrift
by sassynyc

He found reverie in drifts of snow
On dreamless nights, destination unknown
Pleasure abound as the rolling sea
A plight invisible, unknowing were we

Litany in drifts of snow
Soaring higher than eagles, so often he’d go
Always running like the rage of the river
The babble of the brook
Too soon he would wither

Where nightmares and dreamscapes
Merge as one, to ravage the soul
Mangle the mind, hinder the heart
To sever the spirit
In search, always
Of some other kindred

Time ceased forever
In one last drift of snow
What plagued his troubled soul
Only the grave will know
