A harpsichord strikes
the plaintive note
that’s the sound of a knell
the way to remember.
The dirge begins,
One shall make that long walk
Looking at none

who holds that thought
strings ruminating
in His mind
Sufi thoughts and
whirling dervishes,
Small tendrils, gossamer webs
      are they strings?

I have heard of string theory,
But it’s not what binds me.
small pieces do      stuck on here
and there

That tape?      is the invisible bond?
The glue that holds it all together

Go now
        The bandmaster comes.
