creatures of shaded shelter
hid behind the veils of closed lids
feeding, sucking the meat off each other's bones
under a red moon behind black blue clouds
wearing their vampire blood thin

they waited, stalked her careless saunter
down alluring paths of decoy glitter
where she gawked, eyes wondrous wide
so delicious to their frenzied appetite
they waited, still, for a little while
