Coldness spreading, numbness lingers;
sticky bar I rap my fingers
to the beat of the music:
any chance that comes you use it.
Music goes on ever louder,
the men strut past, ever prouder;
hair slicked back, shirts undone,
always searching for the perfect one.
Music blasts into my skull
leaves me with a brain that's null.
As I sit with red eyes, wondering
what all those people are pondering.
The drinks go down, the feeling ceases;
I've lived beyond all my leases.
But as the darkness sweeps inside me
the lights go blinking on behind me.
I check out chicks and feel no pain,
my baby face reveals no strain
of long nights and empty glasses,
of untold lies and countless passes.
So as I lay me down to sleep
I rest my head and start to weep,
becaus as I searched for the one
the life I led came all undone.
