The Beginning of the end

Sitting here wondering
Whatever became of us.
Once so close,
Now so far apart,
Though we're side-by-side.
I look at you and only see
a stranger looking back.
I look inside my heart
for the love that once was there
but all I find is emptiness,
something's missing here.
Forever damned to loneliness
an eternity lost in pain.
Some broken hearts can never mend
and one of them is mine.
Where did all the love go?
Where is all the joy?
A smile from you would make my day
once upon a time.
So now we just coast along
missing what once was.
Yet moving on seems to be
too much like giving up.
But staying on here is torment
and I know that I must go.
I hope you have a lovely life,
and I hope you find the one.
And I hope that someday, somehow,
I'll find the light again.

Some I like - some I...

Not being a poet, I seldom read poetry. If it builds a picture for me, and induces some emotion, I like it, if not, I don't.

This read as if from the heart. I could empathise with the subject. As such, it scores high for me. I'll be reading more of your offerings.

Thanks.
