The Slang of Pornography (Part 02)
In an effort to create more realistic and vital dialogue in fiction a writer has many tools and devices at his or her disposal. Slang can add color, humor and a distinct realism to dialogue. It can also aid with character development and background.
In recent years, as the porn industry boomed, a unique and colorful language has emerged from within the industry. Some of this language has even filtered down to the customers. In any work of fiction or non-fiction relating to pornography the use of the industry related slang in dialogue and description can add dimension to the work.
A complete listing of every bit of slang used in the porn industry could probably fill its own dictionary, so I will try to highlight a few of the more interesting terms, along with a brief description, history or usage guide. Again, while this listing is by no means comprehensive, any story relating to pornography or the industry can be enhanced by the proper usage of some of these terms.
art photos - Classy nude photographs. Usage: I first noticed her when I saw some art photos. Translation: I first noticed her when I saw some good quality nude photos.
baby - A young newcomer who looks younger than she is. Usage: I’ve found a baby for your next commercial. Translation: I’ve found an actress who looks a lot younger than she is for your next scene.
clam dive - A scene showing oral sex performed on a woman. Usage: Hey I want a clam dive on this next shot. Translation: Hey I was some cunninglingus on this next shot.
deliver the load - To ejaculate. Usage: You can always count on him to deliver the load. Translation: You can always count on him to ejaculate.
fluffer - A person hired to keep male performers erect during breaks in filming. Most often this is done by oral sex. Usage: Look, we’ll keep her around as a fluffer. Translation: Look, we’ll keep her around to give the guys a blow job during breaks to keep them hard.
girl things, girl stuff - A range of hygiene procedures that women perform before a scene. Usage: We’re not ready yet, she’s still doing some girl stuff. Translation: We’re not ready yet, she’s doing some hygiene.
hummer - A scene featuring oral sex on a man. This term dates back to the 60s, some other modern terms include blow job and head. Usage: I want a hummer in this commercial. Translation: I want some oral sex on a man in this scene.
jiggly show - A show like Baywatch where the jiggling of breasts is the prime attraction for the show. Usage: Before coming here, she starred in a jiggly show. Translation: Before coming here, she starred a show featuring bouncing breasts.
lunchmeat - A beautiful or sexually appealing female performer. Usage: She is most definitely lunchmeat. Translation: She is most definitely attractive and sexy.
monster shot - An extreme close-up of genitals in a movie. Usage: Her I want to zoom in for a monster shot. Translation: Here I want to zoom in for a close up on the genitals.
nudie - A movie or live show featuring nude women. This term was popular in the 50s. Usage: Let’s go see a nudie. Translation: Let’s go see a movie showing naked women.
pink - An extreme close up of a woman’s genitals. Usage: Give me a pink shot here. Translation: Give me a close of her pussy.
reverse cowgirl - A scene where a woman is astride a man lying on his back while she faces his feet. Also called a RC. Usage: Give me a reverse cowgirl here. Translation: In this scene I want her on top of him, facing his feet.
reverse anal cowgirl - Same as reverse cowgirl except the woman and man are engaged in anal sex. Also called a RAC.
solo box - Video box cover showing only one woman performer, a most coveted honor in porn. Usage: Give her a solo box and it just goes to her head. Translation: Feature her alone on a video box and it just goes to her head.
tunnel magazine - Magazine featuring numerous pictures of a woman’s genitals. Usage: He’s reading a tunnel magazine. Translation: He’s reading a magazine showing a lot of pussy.
wood - Erection. Usage: We can’t start filming yet, we’re waiting for wood. Translation: We can’t start filming yet, we’re waiting for him to get a full erection.
The use of some of the terms above will add definitely add color and dimension to most any story. These are just a few of the colorful terms frequently used in the porn industry.
