Flaws are not always fatal
does the bird cry
as the eagle takes her
in midflight.

when the new moon rises
bloodless in the dawn ,
the dark ones crawl out :
feel their pain         .

He looks at her broken form
and knits it back with care
shaping,
        molding,
                renewing

till once again
the Sun makes them
whole again .
