A guard for the darkness hour
I hold the power
To protect the sleeping
My legacy is bleak at its best...
This night, so beautiful and strange
Without a calling change
Coming forth
All is well and safely rest....

I cannot beckon from thy bed
As gray comes from red
And white of yellow with no protest...
For darkness comes but once a day
Red to gray
Your speechless lips in dreams obsessed
As you safely rest...

You, the only thing on my mind
Your selfish gestures
All in misjudged faith...
In admiration for my solitude, you breathe
From the current in your reflection's rate...
I need your smile on my face
As the night begins to take its place...

I'll dream of your softness, coming close
The signature curves of your pale naked flesh.
Your eyes lighting up,
At the sight of yourself.
A painted hand...your right, my left,
Is moving around you, gripping you fast.
A gasp flees your lips at the joy in your grasp.

In the rising warmth of sky and sea
I'll glow in lazy silence here
For your waking, indulged in your passion's dream
But wronged I stand, you don't appear...
Wrapped in a painting of absent color
Your image will not be manipulated
For sky is sky...at your back it lies
Like my every lonely dream of your ice-water eyes...

I cannot show you lies, nor with you conspire
But to give you yourself in a spirit like fire
I cannot be mine, and neither may you
But you can be yours, when you look me through.
