I'm looking at the past
My heart does ache
I've seen the sins of the world
How people just down and break

They have no hope for the future
Nothing to look forward to
They live as they please
And do whatever they want to do

What kind of life is that
Living with no hope
Living only for yourself
No purpose to help you cope

You fall down hard
And stay there
Wishing someone would pass your way
Wishing someone would care

In my arms
Is a small child
She is meek
And she is mild

She has no worries
Not a single fear
She loves to be held
But knows not what lingers here

What will it be like
When she grows up big and strong
Will everything that is good and right
Be considered wrong

Will everything that is evil
Be considered right
Will darkness prevail
And blot out the light

Will she have good people
To help her up when she falls
Will she have someone to run to
When she looses it all

Will she seek
But not find
Will she know how
To speak what is on her mind

Will she know
Right from wrong
Will she be weak
Or will she be strong

Will she give into pain
Will she give up on love
Will she go and pray
And seek help from above

When she cries
Will she give up on life
Will she live a life
Full of bitterness and strife

When she praises God
Will she be made fun of cruelly
Will she push it aside
And just let it be

Will she try hard
To make the world right
Will she live in darkness
Or shine in the light

Will she be able to sing
Praises of thanksgiving
Will she be able to die daily
But still keep on living

I look to the future
That is filled with sin
And I can't help but wonder
What kind of world will she grow up in

In this day and age, is it ever smart to bring a child into the world? Can we ever say what strife they will face? We go on though, we have children, we are human.
