This alcohol haze
Is not thick enough
Does not obscure the details
That flash before my eyes, insistent

In their presence
Knives in the sink
Through the heart
Such fury unleashed
Unrecognizable remains

This is personal
Impersonal
Two people in one person
One, so gentle
Adoring
The other, a beast unleashed

What flipped the switch
Between love and death
Between life together
And bloodlust

Even he could not understand
Come to terms with his madness
Deal with the damage he had done
Left himself hanging
With us
Trying to understand

this poem...

has always been one of my favorites of yours. It is so personal, yet speaks to a part of me I never wanted to admit existed. You are very talented, in content and expression. Nothing ambiguous about your poetry. I love your work, always have.

I went

through something like this 14 years ago.

It never goes away...but it gets better.

Someday you will stop trying to understand, there is no understanding it, ..and then you will know some kind of peace.

Until then write, cry, drink and mourn.

Thank you for sharing.

I saw this one coming

Do you feel better? This is real to me and well done.

Powerful and straight.

What madness, indeed!

Catharsis... satori... wonderment... bewilderment. I heard your voice crack in this one, and it made the hairs on my arms stand up.
