Where Shadows Lie

What but I would find you where the shadows lie.
In the darkness you would remember my name and our hearts would beat again
Rhythmically, as they did so many times before.
Holding you would be as familiar as drawing breath.
As painful as drawing blood.
Would we dance all night, where the shadows lie?
As sweet as the honey-wine those ancient Gauls would thirst for
Did I taste so sweetly love?
In the night did we trace each other
Fingers gliding together, loving cartographers of the body
How you loved me then, in that shadow that bore our names since the dawn of time.
Then were our tears from the pain we accepted willingly.
I will not wait for you love, there are more who dance within.
I will cry the name of the one who loves me
The one who bleeds for me, but I cannot help but dream
As dusk approaches and the lovers find themselves again
What but I would find you where the shadows lie.
