In the airport lounge
I saw someone
I thought was you,
when she turned
she wasn’t,
Someone different
going somewhere else,

I finished a glass of wine
ate an apple
checked e-mail one last time,
Down the concourse
to the gate
to my Business Class seat
by the window.

Clouds below
dark sky above
another glass of wine
another airplane.

In London you said
we’d meet again,
and we did
in San Francisco
for the evening.

Where are you now?
is this airplane taking me
closer
or further away?

The steward asks
would I like some more wine,
would you?
