Wow! What an amazing journey, the perfect ending. Gina and Andrew truly deserved each other. And about the continuing this story, go chronologically, start with Ian and Gina, then move forward, just saying. Best of luck!

And before I forget, yesterday while checking for the updates, I got to know that Nageren is a GUY! All this while I thought it was a lady writing, I mean Gina's emotion you described it really well, something a woman would know amd understand. Great job and again best of luck.

Fantastic story. This whole journey has been truly great.

A point of criticism for this last chapter though, you could easily have expanded on the descriptions of the feelings and sensations of the reunion to make the end even hotter. Some of your earlier chapers were more detailed in that regard. I fear this is the one thing that keeps this chapter to smashing right to the top of the hall of fame where it belongs.

As for the next story, personally I am interested more in other characters than Ian. Reading about something I know how will end kills quite a bit of the desire to read it. Hopefully you'll find characters with a complex range of emotions for your next tale as well. I feel that is where your greatest strength lie. Not sure which characters might fit best for that though.

Keep up the good work and thank you for such a wonderful story.

One of a handful...

Best debut on Lit to date, I say, but surely not your first rodeo. The ending was what I expected (yea!) but of all the chapters it had the most narrative and 'wrapping up the loose ends' feelings (boo). Writing from a woman's point of view is difficult for a man, it seems, but you've done a masterful job. This was a very moral story in the end and just not because of the ending. The characters are very human, make mistakes, but recover and forgive each other, and themselves. What to write next? I don't know, but I find the relationships and their associated conflicts and ambiguities to be more interesting than the raw sex, but the two together are terrific. You were wise to have this whole series in the can before posting the first chapter. Much better to get it on a regular and short basis than waiting for months for the next chapter.

AnonymousAnonymousover 9 years ago

Yes yes yes yes. It was a perfect ending!!

But ohmygod, please don't involve gina and ian sexually(or have you planned already in doing that???) it was the first thing that came up to my mind when i read incest taboo on your ending note, hmmm btw how old again was gina when ian died

Anywayyyyys, you are a really good writer, it's all so good, the depth, the substance, the oh so natural conversations, the humor, everything.. and im definitely looking forward to your other stories :)

Very well done

From top to bottom, from chapter to chapter. I enjoyed almost every moment. Great human characters that stayed true to themselves. Well written supporting characters to guide the course of the story. Strong emotional issues addressed within your writing. Well formed chapter openings and well timed chapter endings. Thank you.

Great story

I have enjoyed it all the way through and would have been disappointed if Andrew and Gina had not have got married.

Thank You

This is one of my favorite stories on the site! The ending is more than I could have hoped for..I'm glad they both found happiness after a long time of tragedy and Gina was able to realize her worth in the process. But PLEASEEEE do not have Ian and Gina in any kind of incest relationship. The story was perfect and adding that element to the characters might ruin the magic of this story!

Great future ahead

It is so good to see a GOOD writer here. I am sure you will benefit from the experience, it is a great training ground. Writing here certainly helped me get started and gave me confidence enough to carry on and I am about to publish my fourth book. I am sure I am not the only one thatis looking forward to reading more of your work, but taboo or incest does not float my boat. Good luck.

very warm and human

I really enjoyed this story. It had warmth, love, humanity and lots of great lust!

Just curious if the author, either sbliminally or consciously, had Jane Eyre in mind. The story in many ways felt like a 21st century update to a classic story.

Well done in any case.

Excellent

When I read 01 and 02 I wasn't sure I liked the characters or the story. However, I really ended up loving the series. You did an excellent job. The characters developed into complicated but very loveable people. Nice balance between erotic and drama. Thank you for all your hard work.

update from the author

Thank you again for all your encouraging comments and favorable votes. To answer a few recurring questions in comments and emails I've received: Yes, there was a Jane Eyre vibe in the story from the beginning, though it was not an intentional remake. And no, none of the characters or names were taken from real life- any similarities to your own experience are 100% coincidental!

I just submitted the first sequel/prequel, so hopefully it will post soon. It's called A Misdirection of Affection and will probably end up a short, 3-part series telling Ian's story through the eyes of a friend/girlfriend of his. After that, I'll be writing about Gareth and Gina's story from Gareth's perspective, which ended up very different from what I had originally imagined for his character.

Thanks for reading, thanks for commenting, and I hope you continue to enjoy my stories!

A STRANGE ARRANGEMENT

IT WAS REALLY A STRANGE ARRANGEMENT AS THE TITLE WENT. WONDERFUL NARRATION. LIKED IT VERY MUCH. HOPE TO SEE MUCH MOVE FROM THE SAME PEN.

well worth the effort

not being one afflicted with a short attention span, I enjoyed the slow ride - although there were some times when I wanted to curse her out (but then that was likely in your calculus?)

nicely crafted and paced - as was the shorter "Misdirection" series

definitely will look forward to more from your keyboard, and if requests for back stories of any of this story-arc's characters will be taken under consideration, I nominate Dottie

I love your writing

My name is Gina and that is what caught my attention at first when I began reading A Heart Divided, I was rooting for Gareth and Gina at the end of Ch. 4 of AHD but then I started reading this story and realized what a pompus ass Gareth is and was sooo happy that Andrew and Gina ended up together even though their beginning was unconventional. Your writing is amazing, I cried, I smiled and felt warm all over at times as I read this beautiful story. Please keep up the great work. Gina

This story defines the concept of awesome. The emotions flow from the page very well. The sexual encounters are just graphic enough to experience their feelings without getting sloppy.

All of the characters were well developed to carry it without leaving them dangling. Further development of those characters apart from this story line would bea well accepted.

Like a book that you just can't put down, I am anxious for more.

ok,, as much as I detested Gareth,, at this point Gina is a fucking liar

I went on to tell him the part of my history with Gareth that he didn't know. About how I had gotten pregnant after he didn't pull out like he promised.

I read the story about Gareth and her,, when it took place she was riding Gareth down by the lake around the church,,, Gareth told her he was close and tried to get her off him before it was too late,, the fucking liar refused to move causing him to blow his load inside her, since he was on the bottom, how was it his fault that he couldnt pull out as promised, and she also admitted later to doing it on purpose

Glad I didn't start reading it till you were finished else waiting on the chapters to post would have drove me nuts! Great job!

AnonymousAnonymousabout 9 years ago
Congratulations on a well crafted story. Kind of chick-flickish at the end, but OK.

Two broken people crafting a new life together. Appreciate Dottie pointing out Gina's dumb ass mistakes, and doing a thorough background check on Andrew. It was good of you to include those realities.

Sure, some obvious bias, referring to shouting abortion protestors. That was just a cheap shot. Gareth and his ilk are the monsters in that issue, as your characters seem to agree.

Regardless, very talented and imaginative writing. Thank You.

Just lovely

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed reading this, how well written it is and how engaging I found your characters. I stumbled across it and then just couldn't stop reading it until the very end. It felt like a modern Jane Eyre to me. I was so involved with Gina and Andrew, just fell in love with them instantly and loved the way you developed them. But it was everything - the quality of your writing, the themes of commitment, vulnerability, redemption, real love - the whole package that just astounded and delighted me. I never expected to find such a brilliant and memorable story on this website. I went to work and for my whole shift I found myself thinking about this story & your characters. I live in a regional town in Australia; I don't know where you are but please know, your writing is powerful and magical & has reached this far. You have a special gift that will resonate with me for a long time. Thank you.

Wonderful creations

The characters are wonderful creations with real shadows; the story and the writing are terrific, and I love the way the sex is intrinsic to the character development, and love grows out of the sex. Is no publisher interested? It beats the hell out of "Shades of Grey" in every department. As one of the others said, it would make a great film, the trouble is that you would need real actors and script writers and not the usual marzipan figurines.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 9 years ago
Romance.?

I'm wondering if this story would fit better in the romance section. I don't typically read the ones in erotic couplings but stumbled across this one and think many who read the romance stories would really enjoy this one.

Strange for Porn. Excellent for good literature.

This comment is about the whole series, of course. I envy you your ability to handle plot. Your characters are believable (which is not easy), and the sex is an integral part of the story. I had to go back and check the bio to see which gender was doing the writing. You handled the situation well.

All in all, an excellent piece of work.

Literary references

In addition to the Jane Eyre connection, I saw some similarities to The Quiet Man, the short story not the movie. The way Shawn's and Ellen's relationship evolves is remarkably close to that of Andrew and Gina. One passage in particular that describes Ellen's feelings comes so close to Dottie's description of marriage and commitment.

keeping up

Reading this story is like trying to read a comic book while riding a roller coaster but it is difficult to not return to the the next episode. There were many situations that reminded me of some real life experiences I have endured in my own life. I am now 79 years old and can only remember younger days so this story is very pleasant for me to read. Thank you for being such a masterful word smith.

AnonymousAnonymousover 8 years ago

I had a lot of problems with Gina at the beginning, I think if you get yourself in that sort of a situation you better suck it up cause you put yourself there. hat being said I understand the way she acted, she was trying to preserve her pride, and I learned to like her. As for Andrew, sigh, poor fellow. Love the story, the writing, the characters, etc,. Nice ending. Love that the story didn't overstay its welcome.

As usual,

you have built whole characters to a story that is extremely well written. Lots of sex that intrinsic to the plot, emotional content that is missing in so many "erotic"tales.

Great story.

Love, love, love!

This story is one of the best stories I have read in ages. You write beautifully with so much emotion. You made Andrew and Gina so real. Your story also showed how much goes into a relationship. Some great advance given to Gina from two smart women. This should truly be published so a broader audience can enjoy it. I look forward to reading your other stories (as soon as my tears dry!)

Beautiful

Most of what I feel I summed up last chapter, but I can say one more thing that should count for something. I normally enjoy leaving long reviews, like a good two paragraphs. But this emotional roller coaster has left me too...overcome. It’s a beautiful tale and I look forward to more of your brilliant writing—which seems like an insufficient term for what you do. Xoxo

All the Stars in the sky!

Just a wonderful imaginative story that goes way beyond the sometime limitations of this site. Yes, there is sex, plenty of it...but the first person narrative covers so many aspects and complications implicit in the act. I enjoyed this tale on so many levels. Firstly, it is so very well written and well edited (something missing in many stories on this site), and lastly the inventive quirks that fold into one another throughout the telling. Here is an author worth noting.

Crying with both happiness and sadness

I felt every emotion so strong that I cried. And now I’m crying because I know I’ll never feel their happiness. I normally keep my heart out of the way but this story reached into my chest and rubbed it and made it yearn again. It hurts, to hope for that which I can never have. Sorry I’m crying again. Thanks I really did love it.

Absolutely a terrific story. And so many clever little touches to it. Very well plotted; nary a foot wrong. I will say I thought it dragged a little about 3/4 of the way though but not badly and that is my only criticisim.

I really liked how it explored the relationship of sex and love, and of love and marriage. The tortous romances made it all work. The character development was superb; akin to peeling an opion, or the dance of the seven veils. A tremendous work.

This series is excellent. As the author points out in the biography the erotic element is not intended to be titillating but to complement the story and that is just how it is. Definitely the 'darkness' adds to the realism of the story. Great writing.

There was a lot to like, but finding out Gina's great new job was working at one of those scam crisis pregnancy centers... that made it really hard to appreciate the rest of the story. In general, the writing about abortion and adoption from a woman's pov got less and less believable as the series went on.
