Frustratingly short
You really need to rethink your policy of many "frustratingly short" chapters. It put me off sufficiently to give only one star while the plot and writing deserves to be towards the other end of the scale.

Use what words you want, but, dang,,, give us a little more...like 2-3 pages anyway.....

I agree with the others. I tolerate cliff hangers but the perils of Pauline always left me feeling cheated. The writing is still great so please keep going. Ignore the trolls and tell your story.
