wmo, this was a good stab at the Noir genre. Your writing style is lean and mean without wandering off into the unbelievable. I like that you kept it in bounds of what you knew . Since none of the commentators accused you of inaccurate geography.

I really enjoyed reading this story as well as the other Cold Steel stories including the one on Kindle.

Lots of fun.
The dialogue is constantly filled with interesting phrases and while there is plenty of action it is constantly downplayed. Just like dear old Dragnet it teases us.

Still seems like there's an untold story on Matt's wife and Captain Harper that needs to be completed. Matt is a fantastic character. Please give us another adventure and fill in the blanks on his past as well. Thanks for the great writing.

Could use a lot more work.
There's a lot of room for improvement. Dialogue was stilted. Story was ok. Characters were flat. Keep trying.

Good Story
I like this character, Matt Steele. He's a tough guy but not so tough he doesn't get his ass kicked occasionally. He's a smart guy but not so smart he doesn't get fooled occasionally. And he seems like a pretty nice guy who helps his friends out when they need it. I'd like to see more Matt Steele stories.
