You're free to let your imagination fill in those blanks when an author decides not to waste time on something as tangential to the story as the logistics behind a character graduating at 25. Unless you're dumb, and your imagination can only conclude that someone seven years the junior of a new college graduate must be 15, in which case you should have the person reading the story to you explain how you're in error.

I was reluctant to start a series. I'm a bigger fan of stand-alone stories. However, when I saw the "Ch. 01" I at least knew I was in at the beginning. You have developed two interesting and likable characters in Sam and Bella. The peripheral characters are intriguing as well. The setting is terrific, and I very much like your pacing and dialogue as well. And now, as the first chapter closes, you've introduced the potential source of conflict. I'm anxious to see how the plot will develop and the conflict resolved. I'm hooked!

I won't belabor the age issue that has already been pointed out by others. Other than that, the story really has everything it needs. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

College vs age difference

There are plenty of scenarios where a person could be 25-years-old at college graduation.

I, myself, worked for four years before attending college and was a 21-year-old freshman and graduated at 25.

I knew several fellow older students who had done stints in the military before college.

Plus, not everyone attending college is a full-time student. Whether from academic struggles (as mentioned in this story), or a need to work their way through college, a full course load each semester is not always possible.

Heck, even being a full-time student does not always guarantee one will graduate in 4 years. I knew lots of fellow students who started school either with me, or before me, who didn't graduate until sometime after I did.

So, even though it's not specifically spelled out in the story, it is entirely within the realm of possibility for a 25-year-old to just be graduating from college.
