But what you're describing is more masochistic on his part and sadism on her part. It is no longer a marriage based on love and respect but about domination and control.

The worst part is, it can't change. Having emasculated himself, he can't emancipate himself and why would she give up her power? She doesn't love him, she doesn't do this because she loves him, she does it because she enjoys hurting him, pushing him, degrading him. At some point, she will get tired of it and because you can't hurt someone, destroying them emotionally and psychologically, and still love them. It's like abusing a dog. You can't call yourself an animal lover if you are busy setting your dog on fire and laughing because you enjoy it.

As a result, their marriage, their relationship is dead and the best way to hurt someone who enjoys it? Ignore them.

I would like for her to slowly force her husband into the background, starving him of the attention he desires while falling in love, the kind of love that makes watch movies you don't like just to cuddle on the couch. Go for walks, just to hold hands, sit and talk or play board games...the kind of love he had and now he gets to watch as she falls in love with a man who loves her back, where monogamy is a choice because no one else is good enough.


I would love to read that story and then the end where he puts a bullet in his brain and no one even bothers to show up because he ceased to exist a long time ago.
