What Happened to The Circle?

I liked the way the plot initially developed but we've lost The Circle. It seems to have morphed into random people fucking because they're horny

Sigh

This started off as a halfway decent story, but without much depth. Now it's drifting like a body in a shallow river, and with about as much life.
