Sarah and Brian totally ruined Eric and Sarah's marriage. And they didn't feel enough remorse to stop the affair. Brian was able to go to his grave with his marriage still intact... Simply due to the good graces of Eric. Sarah said that she and Brian had tried to stop the affair while she was married to Eric. But 'they couldn't stop'. But after Eric discovered the affair and got the divorce, the two adulterers didn't have any trouble ending the affair. Maybe the thrill was in sexually taking a married wife of a white man. Eric would be the dumbest jackass on the planet if he were to take Sarah back. She doesn't bring much to the relationship.

To love one person but wanting to enjoy better sex with another, well I suppose there is nothing new about that. However very little in life is perfect and relationships require compromise, she was not prepared to compromise and wanted the best of both worlds which makes her a very selfish person. If she really loved her husband she could have sought help with the problem of lust years ago Being that selfish does not exhibit true love, it simply exhibits selfishness. People can change. The past is the past and we live in the present. The way the story was written, the future is in their control. Hanging onto the past is a form of self-torture. Forgiveness of another is done for yourself. It doesn't directly affect them one way or the other.
