You lost the effective message you were trying for in your story when you had 5 inch pud Billy not only be a cheater, but in fact the instigator of the cheating. In this case, then you do have the BTB favoring readers saying: "Sure, he deserved to get burned". But when she didn't divorce him over it, or call him out for his shortcomings and tried to make her marriage better in anyway FIRST, before sending it to the shitcan, then she was just as bad. Many BTB stories have a "hero" who runs the fine line of accepting blame for the marital problems. The revenge scenarios come in AFTER it is too late to salvage the marriage. Many BTB stories, ALSO feature a warning as a cautionary tale. This scorched earth method often comes with its own consequences. It is in this way that BOTH parties finally learn a lesson, after usually some WAY TOO long a time spent with little to no communication.

Sure, there have been some really shitty BTB stories that weak authors have attempted and found themselves featured on this site. But then again there have been MANY, MANY thoughtful and entertaining ones too. When an author wants to lampoon BAD BTB stories, what pisses me off about it is when they lump ALL (like each and every) BTB stories together as if they are ALL written in the same exact way. And simply stated, they are not.

And yes, I HAVE read stories that feature OTT revenge that HAVE been well written.

But there has never been one written where the person seeking revenge was ALSO a cheater themselves. Revenge is an outcropping sourced from real pain and betrayal. This story missed the mark as she admits, she didn't even care that much about what Billy was or wasn't doing. To execute revenge, you still have to care! At least enough to care about the other person learning a lesson and changing their behaviors in order to become a better person in the future. ANY revenge that doesn't keep that as its primary aim and goal is doomed to failure. And the stories that feature them, will probably fall quite short as well.

Curious, I wonder if you would consider the story "How are You?" by Vulcez as a BTB story? Or if not BTB, at least it features revenge? Yes, it does!

Anyway, Maine, if you haven't, you should. And you need to remember that the best stories get people to think. And the best comments come from people who HAVE thought.....
But there is ALWAYS going to be chaff to separate from the wheat. There will always be the poor attempts to compare against the great efforts.

If I were you, I would focus more about the quality of my own work, instead of hoping to illicit any sort of change in the overall readership. Some commenters have the value of being like the circus sideshow freak. Do you want to be featured in the main ring? Are you a MAIN EVENT attraction, or just another afterthought for the crowd? But some people were never meant for center stage, nor SHOULD they ever be there. A story like this brings spotlight upon what is better served for sanity purposes to just be overlooked. You will one day drive yourself crazy deleting comments and writing rants to preface each and every story.....

She claimed she didn't want a divorce, but I felt she could not honorably continue in a marriage to which she was not honestly and fully committed.
Her behavior had revealed her innermost thoughts and beliefs on the topic, in graphic detail.....but she'd never shared them with me in the many discussions about values, beliefs and needs in the relationship. She'd "put her best foot forward", instead of being honest.
So, it had to end.
I can't say it was entirely amicable.....but it ended.....and I'm moving on....still.

Of course would have been more but what can I do, they only let you have 5 oh well. along around the last quarter of the first page I just started to chuckle thru the whole last page. I loved your idea of having her to be telling her stupid husband what she was doing while he was doing Donna. and he didn't ever have a clue. This was just a great story I loved the way it turned out, its just too comical.
