This is well crafted, C_F, even to someone unfamiliar with a narcissistic personality disorder. In the case of my wife and me, we have been providing eldercare to her 93 year old mother who has this problem. It's been a rabbit hole with the Queen of Hearts.
I tried writing a poem about it once, but it came off as too sardonic. Yours, however, captures the harsh reality of it well.
I'm greenmountaineer. For some reason, I can only comment as "anonymous," even though I'm log in to Literotica.
Well crafted but a mixed metaphor, entomologically speaking. The butterfly does not pierce but rather extends its coiled proboscis into the plants sexual organs (flower) and then sucks the sweet nectar. This might fit well into your poem.
An interesting and provocative poem. I don't think it's a problem that your metaphorical insect combines attributes from more than one real-life insect.
that you have a experience with the type. A wonderful artistic description that reveals the truth better than a simple description of that personality.
Poets are brave and naked. Thanks for your beautiful courage to expose and express your heart and thoughts
of a narcissist, and beautifully written. The line "Crusted with scalloped knives" is perfection.
I hate poetry and this was absolutely marvelous in many different ways. Thank you for sharing it.
Beautifully crafted, you paint a picture with words that's just so evocative.
