The Thesaurus is your enemy. You tried too hard to use an advanced vocabulary and it was awkward and difficult to focus on the story. Sometimes the simpler words are best.

What's with these "critics" who hide behind anonymous, who can't even give their membership names? Anyway, I didn't find your story pretentious as far as vocabulary goes. What words was Mr./Ms. referring to? Plethora? Abode? We can only guess.

Grammar

I loved the story, but you need an editor. Every was great except word use( mentioned in above comment) and grammatical sentence structure. For example comma and conjunctoons for independent clauses. Just fix stuff like that. Its still a 5 star.

Thank you all for your feedback, this is my second submission so I am still finding my feet. For any grammatical mistakes I do apologise if it hindered your experience while reading. I will admit my focus when writing is the story and grammar is not always my priority. I try to write how I want things to be read though it might not always be how it should be formatted. As for vocabulary those are the words I normally use in everyday life and I have no plans on dumbing down anything I write.
