I met my first wife as a blind date, in December 1971. We got engaged 9 days later, and married 4 months after that. We had 23 1/2 years together before cancer took her from me, in 1995.
And I should have said...
..what a well-told story! A nice change to see almost no spelling/grammar errors, and the pace was just right.

I admit I am crying a bit because the story ended
I was afraid the pacing was picking up last time but this just about blew me away and I can't exactly complain. In the end Mark did what was right by everyone and they did get their happy ending, with education and a place to live happily. Her parents making love was a giveaway that he got their seal of approval and from then on it was a very pleasant and smooth sail. But all good things come to an end so I'm not that sad about it, the adorable factor sure as hell didn't dwindle either.
It was an iconic romance story and there aren't that many around. Thanks you for writing it and sharing it with us!
5* doesn't even cover the praise it deserves, but it'll have to do :)

Wow. I reserved comment until the end. That was one of the sexiest, most heartwarming stories I've read. So much hotter than tongue on the clit, g-spot, pinky in the rear nonstop orgasms. I really do come to literotica for the erotica, but I'm always blown away when I run across a beautiful, sexy story with lovable characters like these (not just Mark and Jen, but the entire cast from the dorm mates to the parents). Please include more stories like this if it is not an exception (I haven't read your entire Literotica portfolio, so my apologies if they are already there - I'm going to find out!) I started out with the 'standard' aggressive sex stories, and some of them aren't terrible, but even in those, I started moving more to the romance side. See the "Skiing with Emily" and "Morgan" series in the Erotic Coupling category. I'm not done with the "Skiing with Emily" story, but I had hit a bit of a roadblock. It's becoming clearer in my mind where I want to take it, and I'll probably put the third chapter, once I've written it, in the Romance section.

What a wonderful story
Very heartwarming. Tears came easily to my eyes when I reached the proposal, the wedding and the ending. Thank you for making them so loving. They have had a happy 44 years together -- any children? I am sure they enjoyed each other's bodies quite a bit. Mark as a naked man in his apartment seemed a very sexy guy with the hairy manhood and hairy chest. Hurrah for your writing!

I actually have some "deleted scenes" in the can, scenes that were pretty good, I thought, but interrupted from the story flow. For example, I have a "Fred's story" in which he told Edna that he was pretty sure that Mark was proposing to Jennifer at that very moment, but I held it back, because that would have taken away from the climax of the story.
It might have gotten too long that way. With the deleted scenes, the story runs to 25,600+ words!
I finally got an idea . . .
. . . how to continue Skiing with Emily, and I'm working on it, but it's not ready for submission. And who knows: I might just do Fred and Edna's story.
One minor criticism
Nice story, but your math is wrong. 1945 to 1971 is 26 years, not 36. Other than that, the story is well-written and entertaining.

You have to ASK if we want more of this? Who in their right mind wouldn't want more of this!?
By all means add all the side stories you had prepared, or write new ones. I was actually hoping for more after the finale, like intermediate .5 chapters where the views of other people were flashed out more. Freds view is specially intriguing as he went through a similar thing with his fast pace and his thought after meeting Mark would be golden; the other girls in the dorm would be an excellent candidates for this as well to see how they reacted to the whole ordeal after their investment in those dates; and finally Marks mom didn't make a single appearance in the whole story at all so give her a chance too.
That's just some ideas I have so if you ever feel like writing more I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the offer but after the fact is a bit late.
You used a long, slow, and deliberate period during which the two principals met, became acquainted, fell in love and established a relationship. andthenallofasudden the story ended without resolution or much explanation.
With all the attention paid to her wardrobe, the style of jeans, blouse, nail polish (hands and feet), footwear, the interaction with her roommates, even the scene in the restaurant, it seemed odd to not have him at least swing by to see his own mother during the holiday break, and even more out of character for everything to come to a complete wrap in a few short sentences.
But you are the writer, it is your story, and I am a mere reader. It is your story to tell as you choose.

I really didn't want this story to end! This is one of those stories that I would NEVER have read and would have missed, if it wasn't on Literotica! While a lot of people do come on this sight to get some quick gratification, there are some that just like a heartwarming story of lasting love of two people who are soul mates!

Not only because of the love story that the author has written, but because, well, it looks like my own story too with my wife. We are in Europe (so we are neither Mark nor Jennifer), but the story is very similar to ours, at the time of boyfriends, presenting their parents, the marriage proposal, and we've been married over 37 years.
I love this story.
I am very curious about the new chapters.
