Never, ever write in the first person, present tense! Readers HATE it!

As the saying goes, "This works has a lot that's new and original; unfortunately, what's new is NOT original and what's original is not new!"

Apparently readers in Canada hate first person present tense. Readers in USA are not so narrow as to hate a work solely because of the voice.

On the other hand it is not a very interesting story, which readers everywhere hate.

I like first person present, it's hot :)
