There have been weeks on end here , where I've had to sustain my LW fix solely through the archives .
Yes during these droughts , I have went back and read and re-read all of my favorites. And ,Van1 , you are enlarging my cache superbly ! Thanks for the wonderful little flash stories like this , they are a personal favorite when you really don't want to get into a 10 page plus story.

Huh?

Let me get this straight:
1. You lead us to believe that she is single and is concerned about hooking up with a cheater.
2. You lead us to believe that a peeping tom is following them.
3. It slowly becomes apparent what is going on.
4. They are busted.
5. The perfect conditions for divorce and a father gaining custody present themselves.
This was a "trick the reader" plot. Ugh. No suspense, no humor, no tension of any kind. Well written, might be a decent story in there somewhere.

The pickings have not been the best on LW the last few months. As always I blame it on the trolls, or is it the crows? Possible explanation of her worrying about if the guy was Married: Exactly what happened....... The question (unasked) about why she did not have a baby sitter is that she also did not want anyone knowing about her absence.

A sobering thought.

Not sure how it is in Aussie Land, but here in the good ol' US of A, we hear about women like Fiona, on average, 3 or 4 times a year. That's depending on which city you live in, of course. Every few months down in L.A., we hear on the news about some woman, usually a single mother, leaving her 4 or 5 year-old kids at home without a babysitter. They do this so they can go out partying or whoring around. Those are only the instances that were reported to the police, because a "nosy neighbor" did the right thing. God knows how many aren't even caught.

That said, taken as the work of fiction it is, this was a fun tale! The comic byplay between the PIs was funny as hell! The joke and one-liner at the end were also priceless, as usual! LOL

Well done!! Again, ending strikes me as just a touch rushed, but that may just be for my taste, and you did warn us this was a quick one.

In this case it worked out. to leave your kids alone to Chase is a Dangerous thing. I would have Slapped her silly and Thrown her ass OUT!

It's a good story but I have to be honest, at least 20% of that was for the, "Government health warning. 'Giving up tobacco and alcohol may turn you into a boring, self-righteous bastard." Ha ha ha. ;-)

She needs to also be charged with 'willful child neglect/endangerment' beyond the obvious pro-husband/family divorce. The problem is this slut can just hook-up again and pop out more neglected kids - some how society needs to enforce female sterilization on those found willfully endangering their own children - but it will never happen in our PC/NOW world. Only 'male' chemical castration is allowed.
