Cenotaph

Sparse and tensely written.
I enjoy it when I have to look up an occasional word.

Are you sure "cenotaph" is just what you mean?
The dictionary meaning is basically a tomb/monument for someone who is buried elsewhere.
Perhaps it would be clearer to me if the final line began with "For" ?
