One of the best chapters you have posted. Answering questions that had been lingering aswell as showing that While alal is a villain he is not exactly the biggest issue that has arisen as cael has said he is the product of the violation of the weave. Which in turn has caused more issues. But interesting on trying to get anat to embrace saku again. But I think I'm starting to puzzle some hints on several future events.

You stopped this chapter too soon! Alal in his own way is a potential good guy, Cael a potential bad guy. This chapter blew the f'in roof off what we already thought we knew. I really hope you pen chapter 47 soon, it just became my most sought after chapter on Lit. I mean, i was laughing so hard from page 1-3 that my sides were spre and tears streamed my face. Then pages 4-6 force us to completely re-evaluate the whole story. I am going to have to re-read the last 45 chapters again to incorporate this new info. You're such a good writer but also an asshole, lol. Talk about leaving a cliffhanger. Thank you for your time, crafty & devious mind, and this wonderful entertainment. Learned is this story is something that takwes multiple read to digest all the facts and every time you to you can almost always pick up on new information.i think we all know who his mom's spy was when he was in college and possibly has connections to possibly one of the factions. Because like he said how else they know to send people in the know to the funeral service. My guess is his mom was shielding him until he got hired at havenstone than it was out of her hand's. But she bound and determined after his father's death to get a spy close to him again. And once he fiqures more of that out he is really gonna start questioning what destiny really is . Is he supposed to bring the end of the world or write a new one with alal still around.

I was there when this posted, at about midnight on the night of 7/27-7/28 and I'm not surprised that we've all jumped in there with our thoughts and feelings. As I recall, there were six comments posted before I went to sleep at about three in the morning.

I was there when the series started, and now I'm going to have to re-read the whole thing. I'm glad that I don't have a job (serious physical injury about 19 years ago) to be late to. Well, I'd probably have to talk my doctor into writing out a note for the next five days, just in case.

Great chapter! Love that Cáel is 'learning' the knowledge he has as he goes. Love that he also does not back down from responsibilities when he realizes he has made wrong assumptions with his limited knowledge base, nor does he back down once he has decided on a course to fix said problem(unless someone can come up with a better one that handles everything). Temujin being Aya's 'Boon companion' through Cáel was probably a kick in the teeth to many on the council. I wonder how much more aggressive Elsa is going to be during the great hunt now.....

This was easily one of my favorite chapters yet, if not my favorite, very well done! So many good things about this chapter, plenty of plot twists leaving you wanting for more. Honestly at one point I started wondering if Alal was going the route of "acting" the villain and not actually after Cael's soul, but hoping Cael would end his suffering instead. Though getting to see more of him I am not so sure that's the path you're going with him as it doesn't quite seem that way, but not sure lol. Can hardly wait for 47, the irony is that initially it was because of his last day finally ending (hopefully) and was looking forward to the start of the hunt. Now however, with all the twists you prepped this chapter I'm equally looking forward to seeing the progress on that - also totally didn't see him having sex with a goddess this chapter, nicely played!

Being sane is falsehood in the world we live in everyone has issues rather they choose to find from them or confront them. Choosing to confront the issues can almost be as bad as not. Medicine that is suppose to help all have some negative affect after time but it's what helps. I my sound odd but at times I wish for a simpler time when war were battle with iron and wood not rifling and gun powder. My mind is twisted by the events I'm my life and my actions that have left me alone .I forgot how to be the person thaty wife had fallen in love with because of the depression had eaten away most of the joy in my life. Now I look to everything else to try and help me get back to actually living in the world. Stay healthy James . The reader's for the most love your work with starting to look at other story that have been shelved remember if ideas come for other story's why you write them down real fast sometimes it may help having multiple choices to write on depending on mood.

So we have confirmed at least 9 biological children and 1 adopted. Tadefi, Gael, Sikia, Miyaku, Ester, Zhen, Imogen, Hana, and Oneida seem to be confirmed mothers of his children. Rhada still seems iffy, she hasn't outright said she is pregnant though it will happen I am sure. Then his boon companion Aya. With Aya ascending to be Queen, she and Katrina will probably up the ante to get him and Caitlyn/Desiree together otherwise Epona will die out. Also, the Lady Obsidian has his spermies floating. I wonder just how smitten Libra and Brooke are with him, and reconciliation with Nikita?

18,510 words ... and I still managed to cover less than 24 hours. It definitely appears like I'm working on a Post-Hunt Cael Saga. In this chapter I do manage to get to the introduction of the New Directive's Second Class, so yes, Cael made the 84 days alive and in one piece. If you really want to take a look, drop me a line.

I always loved the chapters where you blur the line between reality and the weave. When I saw this chapter I was expecting to read about the great hunt and while I am a little disappointed as I was super pumped for it. The direction you took was entertaining and continues to build on the amazing lore of this series. The Mythos that you are building is enthralling and I hope to read more from you soon.

1. Can you explain the curse 'life for a life'? I understand the curse wrt Pamela because she spared Cael's life, thus a possibility she will lose her soul. But Cael mentions that again in the previous chapter when Aya is adopted...

2. What is the theory Cael's trying to verify when he asks Krasimira for Yakko Ishara's name? I've read the two chapter many times to see if I missed anything and nothing comes to mind.

3. I learnt about the runners acting as traitors under Katrina's command in one of your comments. So my question was how did Felix agree to help with the kidnapping of Cael? Surely Katrina will make sure there are no bread crumbs pointing to her. And again if anybody in the host know Felix sold Cael out? My suspicion is that nobody knows expect Cael and Aya who have guarded the secret. But I would like better clarification from you on this.

1) The true meaning of the 'Life for a Life' curse/prophecy has yet to be fully revealed, only alluded to. Even when Cáel thinks he has figured it out earlier, he begins to rethink it. First he thinks it merely involves Pamela saving him. Later he starts seeing how lives cascade into other lives and how one person's mercy can have far-reaching effects.

It is not so much a 'singular' life for a 'singular' life, but in how the lives you save matter.

2) The theory was the pre-Troy Amazons kept genealogical record and that the Keepers recorded the actual name and lineage (thus the genetic ties between) of the Heads of the First Twenty Houses ... and most likely all the others.

As an example, adoption was a common practice for the early Amazons so the original founder of House Arinniti might have been a sister to the original Ishara.

Now, if the Keepers didn't record their original, pre-Troy names and identities, it would have also been far less likely they would have known if any Amazon was, in fact, a true descendent of the Amazon Royal House. If they did maintain secret records and the declaration of Aya being of that line was legitimate, Cáel theorized the Keepers had recorded the names of the First Twenty as well.

It appears he was right. It also implies the Keepers keep secrets of their very own and considering their unique access to the augurs ... who knows what augurs have revealed yet Keepers have decided to not tell High Priestesses for any number of reasons over the centuries. Things the Amazon Host could not, or would not accept.

3) Felix was chosen because of the misogynistic nature of the Seven Pillars. Katrina's thinking was if it had been solely a female-operation, odds were good the last group of operatives would have been killed. They were 'just' women after all.

By substituting Felix and Felix's macho into the equation, it altered how the Seven Pillars viewed the kidnapping end game. Not only could the 7P leadership better identify with a man like Felix, their long term thinking was a tool such as Felix would never 'flip' like all other Havenstone assets eventually do. The thinking being those Amazons would never forgive a male thus they could keep Felix as a mole inside the Amazon Host longer.

There was also the bias that made them want to believe Felix could fool the Amazons ~ because he is the top notch, alpha male that he is.

Now, from the Havenstone point of view: Felix could not have pulled off that operation because no Amazon would have trusted him with the responsibility ~ he is a male after all. He certainly would never have been 'in charge'. That is the Amazon bias biting them in the ass.

This also shows the difference between Katrina and the vast majority of Amazons in her ability to think past her highly traditional, bigoted upbringing. She marries that fierce intellect with an intense charisma which inspires its own, peculiar fanatic devotion among those who work for her.

As for Felix ~ Katrina told him the truth. There was a Secret War raging, he worked for the Amazon Host, Cáel - his rival, was a reincarnation of an ancient bloodline thus going down a different career path than him, and he was being asked to risk his life for little reward and no recognition. He could very well get killed by the people he'd be dealing with and trying to fool.

Felix: "So if I stack up enough bodies, seize enough victories and wreck the plans of your - our enemies, I will have as many Amazon women to bare my young as I wish? No need for pesky things like marriage, paternity tests, or jealousy rivalries?"

Katrina: "'No' to the last one - yes to the rest. As Cáel has proven, the more successful you are, the more women will fight to be with you. No Amazon wants to settle for second best."

Felix: "And this isn't certain death?"

Katrina: "No. You and Cáel are the last of New Directive. I would gamble either of you if I truly believed you would perish."

Felix: "How is Cáel going to get out of this? I haven't bested him yet."

"Katrina: "I don't know. I wouldn't tell you if I did, but I don't know how he and my niece will survive. I simply have faith he will find a way."

Felix: "I'm better than him.

Katrina: "Prove it."

Felix: "I'm in."

Sorry to hear yer daughter is also Bi-polar mate, i just finished reading this for the 4th time and each time reading i pick up on thing's i missed before, i live in hope of chapter 48 appearing at some point as i'm sure every one of us (your fans) have been looking forward to reading 'The hunt' and more for the last 13 months but we get why haven't written man, your family and your health is paramount as it should be and if others have a problem with that fact...Tough. Either way i look forward to reading more of your work be it is story or anything else, Thank you for sharing your imagination with us :)

I swear to freaking God if I do anymore research as opposed to actual creative writing ... but I'm not doing that right now. Instead of putting Felix on 'Black Thunder' (name still a work in progress) and Cáel on 'Peppermint' ~ so they can dodge, evade then fight, get captured by, then escape from only so they can fight some different Amazons ... I'm putting together the timeline of the Japanese invasions of various locations in Southeast Asia and the Southwest & Central Pacific with that of US deployments to Europe in 1942 plus Operations Ironclad, Streamline Jane and Torch.

I've also been looking up German merchant marine of World War II by examining Soviet War Reparation records ...

How is Felix & the New Hires doing back at HQ?

Short answer:

The ladies are all still in New York, finishing up their longer apprenticeship program with Executive Services while Felix is away on an Epona ranch, honing his survival and combat skills.

Long answer:

Felix is being held for training at an Epona Freehold in Wyoming/Colorado where he is quickly polishing off his horsemanship skills. He's been told he will need them in the Great Hunt. This is Katrina repaying the 'favor' Felix did for her by pretending to be the lead kidnapper of Aya and Cael (plus figuring out how to help them keep their phones). For now - he trains very intently ... in a ranch-operation full of strong, dominant, healthy women (with no other 'real men' for miles and miles). Seriously, you gotta feel for the guy. ;)

The female new hires remain 'apprentices' in the Executive Services department where they have been 'casted' but yet to achieve 'full Agent' status ~ aka Katrina's complete trust. This is a four to seven year process with most of the girls we know being in their fourth, or fifth year (the 'senior' new hires).

Fabiola has a ways to go.

Daphne is about to graduate after only four years, making her an exemplary 'cadet' while the rest are merely 'on target' as far as graduation goes in their fifth, or sixth year. Executive Services is very difficult for most full-bloods (since Katrina took over and become more Globally proactive) as it entails dealing with outsiders at all kinds of levels. Due to the high 'wash out' rate, ES is now considered to be the second most prestigious branch at Havenstone after the Security Detail.

Then there are the pluses of under the old regime, Katrina was considered Hayden's protege and top Amazon of her generation. In the new regime ... Katrina is kinda/sorta unofficially Queen Aya's Aunt and official the Queen's principal adviser ~ the one who prepares the Morning and Nightly briefings Aya gets on the welfare of the Host.

So now, the remaining New Hires have close proximity to the Queen to add to their list of 'chores' to complete every day.

FYI - ALL the New Hires belong in Katrina's office and under her tutelage - even Fabiola. Fabiola is intelligence, just blindingly bigoted and snotty. Likewise, she is an excellent spy, interrogator and operative ... but in the story we never get to see that side of her because she's being such a bitch to Cael all the time ~ squandering her opportunities to shine with her small-minded way.

Bizarrely, Fabiola is most likely going to stay and graduate in ES, working there until she dies, or called away for House duties. Daphne won't. She'll transfer to the Diplomatic Corps. Why? Now ES has a spy inside the Diplomatic Corps and Daphne will be both a diplomat and Executive Services Operative ... because that is how ES operates. Recall that 'high' washout rate? Most don't, in fact, 'wash out'. They graduate early then apprentice elsewhere inside Havenstone ... to keep an ear and eye out for trouble.

Mind you, this practice is only known to a handful of high ranking Amazons. If most Branch & House Heads realize ES had spies inside their operations, they would be furious though there would be nothing overtly they could do. The ill will inside Havenstone is simply something Katrina and the High Priestess (now the Regency & the Queen) don't need. If the Hashashin discovered this long-term insertion of operatives into other people's organizations ... they would applaud (quietly, of course).
