Interesting "World"

I believe the complaint from the first chapter is you mentioned "The Shoulder of Orion", which is a star 1,500 light years away from us. So the whole Universe vs. Galaxy/Solar System thing is understandable. In the later chapters, you defined your "World" rules, which is an interesting take on Scifi.

I like the story in general, but, imho, it is missing some depth/character development. I feel the characters need to be filled out a little more before jumping to the next group. Maybe add a little some adventure to explain the "physics"/limitations...
