I was right!

I thought it was Newton but not 100% sure.

Completely mesmerised

Simply brilliant, not only in the complete construction of this great series but also in tying all the leads, tit-bits and bringing the audience home with the revelations.

Truly a privilege to be reading you...

Knew it!

Knew who Sinon was back in The Fake Badges. Pretty sure who the consultant is as well. So far it's been a good series of stories. Wonder what's next when the series ends?

Great mystery

The Web you have weaved WW is more intricate than any Consultant could. Bravo! Proud that I definitively figured out Sinon, but still haven't figured out the Consultant. It is a testament to you that after reading all of the stories, and the Eight-Fold Fence at least 3 times, there is still a shadow there. Eagerly anticipating the great reveal, and what you have planned afterwards. Cheers!

Very good very good

I was guessing that Newton was the Consultant's Sinon but was not completely sure. Who the Consultant is remains a mystery and I will not comment on my guess. Very much enjoying this series and your writing.

The final conflict is at hand

WW, thanks again for such a fine series of stories. I had figured out that Newton was the mole, you left some hints where IC has actually warned her (indirectly) about what the consultant does to his allies when they cease to be of use.
My suspicion is that it is Thomas P Cook, the local political grifter who hides in plain sight, which is brilliant in his own way. I mean would would believe that the local councilman is actually a brilliant crime lord and mastermind. Again, I could be wrong.
Await your next series !

Thanks for Keeping us in suspense

So even though I suspected Julie Newton, now I have to search back to find out why she hates the Commander.
Apple Groove reminds me of all the stories my grandfather told me about Sand Mountain.

Julie hates Don because...

... of Harold Malone. She was having an affair with him, they were both white supremacists and Don ran Malone out of Town (and Melina waxed Malone). She was further turned by the Consultant, who is good at cultivating the hatred of others towards Don (see: Angela Harlan).

Apple Grove is based on a number of South Georgia towns that had "Boss Hogg" like overseers ('The Dukes of Hazzard' was loosely based on Ludowici, GA and Long County; "Murder in Coweta County" (book and movie) is a true story based on a crime boss of Meriwether County, GA)). Although embellished, the events described are not that far from having happened in the past...

My short list

did include Detective Newton, but she was not on top and not alone. It is - no, HAS become a really GREAT story! I do hope that WW will continue writing these stories for us! THANK YOU, WifeWatchman!

Great writing

Knew Sinon was Julie Newton, The Abacus, too many clues left behind; from her closeness to Harold Malone, to the gossip she glean from her meal at the Cattleman's Club with her sister, to her showing up to a party at the Wellman's it did not make sense she was showing up to while she spoke quietly with Dr. Wellman. Continually referring to her as Sinon and not Julie Newton was becoming silly, glad to see that bit of silliness stop.

I figure the Consultant is Dr. Wellman, again too many clues, the meeting where Donald Troy briefs 8 individuals, including Todd and the Sheriff about Ned narrowed it down to really 6 of those individuals. Then over the next several stories the numbers got decrease the number down to being either Pastor Westboro or Dr. Sidney Wellman. Why it could still be Westboro, too many connections link the Consultant to Wellman, the links between the college to the CIA, the various exchanges between Wellman and Troy, the strange meeting between Julie Newton and Dr. Wellman during a formal reception, his closeness to Henry Wargraves, etc...

I am guessing after two more short series and the Consultant of Crime will be taken down, along with the Oldeeds Organization, and the new enemy to emerge will be Senator Cerone, the smart mob boss masquerading as a politician, with the cleaning up of the SBI being one of the first major operations on Donald Troy's plate. Though I think we may have some minor opponents be Donald Troy's focus like the CEO of Ward Harvester (whose first name escapes me) and Thomas Cook in the stories that follow the next two. And with the Consultant of Crime taken down Don's sister Elizabeth may return to Town & Country in order to fuck her son and brother, then get into more trouble.

Tell me how much I got right WW.

Interesting guesses

You'll see if your guesses are right in the next few series. :-)

When the Greeks left the Trojan Horse at Troy, they left a man buried to his neck in the ground. This man, named "Sinon", told the Greeks that the Trojans were withdrawing in defeat. He, along with the Horse, was taken into Troy, and he let the Greeks out of the Horse to effect the ambush... as the Greek mole inside Troy. Likewise, this story's "Sinon" was a mole inside the TCPD, and was trying to lead the Detectives astray about Don. So that's where the name "Sinon" came from.

Response to Anonymous "GREAT WRITING"

Normally don't comment but this is too good a series not too! Hats off WW!!!!

Anonymous-Great Writing: I too think the Consultant is Dr. Sidney Wellman. There has been a clue that was evading me and took sometime to hunt it down. My apologies I didn't note what series it was exactly when it first appeared. This was again listed in the Part 14 - The Hunt Begins P# 4. "He finished his drink, 'the rare and expensive sherry that he often enjoyed,'..........! WW has used this several times and especially when meeting with 'Sinon' (Julie Newton). He does have a lot of connections being a university president.

We shall see as the web closes!

Yay, got it right

I had narrowed Sinon down to 2 - Julie or Melina, Don's ex. But then I figured, the Consultant really hates Don. If Sinon were Melina, then the Consultant would have ordered a hit on Don (and we know Melina won't miss). Plus, Melina had saved Don's life a number of times. So then, it had to be Julie - particularly since there have been things that she said or did that made me go "huh?" - sort of a double-take, but nothing so obvious that definitely exposed her as Sinon. Until a) she interrogated Moschel (organ thief) without authorization (I figure she was trying to intimidate him on behalf of the Consultant) and b) she spoke privately with Dr. Wellman at on of his soirees - and I couldn't figure out why she would be invited, unless she is Sinon and Wellman is the Consultant.
Time will tell if I'm right.
