I do like a good story where you have to figure out who the killer is, but I never read the first chapter so I will have to read that one

May I ask that you read both parts twice at least so that you can find a thread to follow. It is in the words the IC does not say points to where you might find a clue or two.
I still think that the release of that book on the Black Widow by someone who knows all the details, who happens to be within the town where these copy-cat murders are taking place is a little questionable.
But then you might find it to be a False Widow Spider.
It is also the first time I have heard the IC so protective towards Rita, yet no visit to check on her satires!

Only a suggestion but by no means required you may find it helpful by providing some "back story" and IC's thinking that could sharpen your "observations and deductions" to this revisit.

The revelry over the potential of mind control being behind pushing the original Black Widow, Angela Harlan into becoming a serial killer and how the current killer may be a repeat brainwashed victim/murderer is very intriguing and raises the question of who really is responsible for the murders (i.e. are the murderous actions something already in their hearts and the brainwashing just removing moral blocks which otherwise would keep them from acting on those impulses or are they murdering others according to someone else's wishes). I cannot wait to see how this series turns out. My guess is this series will take at least 2 more chapters to be finished, though to really develop this story to its full potential it may require 3 or 4 more chapters to make this series truly epic.
