That said, its nice to have another progenitor in the wings to fight off Progenitor-John; Im thinking that he will attempt another reveal next time John overdraws from his powers again (weakening his barrier); I'm surprised he didnt resurge wjen Jade was brought back.

Other than this, good housekeeping chapter. Tied up a couple loose ends and set the stage for the Dragons March, interrogation, and next refit (power, drives, physical security, and dining room/kitchen). Now we just need some Athenite Alyssium armor for John and we're set to rumble!

Great as always although I wish there were more party scenes or a bit of filler to let the crew enjoy themselves without interruption. Maybe another vacation?

Finally, I know you have something special planned for Faye's body, but I can't wait for a purple organo-tech-android physically joining the crew.

This chapter i felt wasnt worth the wait,the time sequence is wrong , firstly in this chapter you said 12 hours to dragon reach then you mention several hours later and then 3 or four hours later to which it was said that the they to would arrive 4hrs from nw, well that exceeds the 12 hours originally stated.why the fuck arnt they there already, i hate these stupid chapters were fuckall happens , please can you get on with the fucking story. All this filler crap is annoying. Also i feel that the the advancement of the tech is becoming abit unrealistic, i mean 11 times folding armor , soon you going to say that she can reshape it 33 then 100 thrn 1000 times, which is just unrealistic. But over all well writen but i didnt enjoy it so i gave it a 1star due to the static storyline

Anon.. rather than being a critic n shagging in public you should just start reading Harry Potter. The entire storyline has been matched to the T..Tef has been careful with the timeline as Calara wakes up in intervals of 4 hours or roundabouts. This is a Lit story n if you find the sex annoying then you need to get some blue pills dude. Quit discouraging the author with an unnecessary rant - this is Teflers story, write one yourself if you please to do so.

Finally, Tef - thank you for a good account of the wounded birds.. a lovely follow-up n many questions answered. The story reveals one layer after another.

They likely ended up travelling in the wrong direction chasing down the Amaterasu.

After that they are fairly well backing course.

Only two hours to settle the Situation so that could put them at least an hour in the wrong direction.

Much too much stress, so I agree that relaxing and enjoy works better.

This chapter was like a Xanax compared to the crack that was the last few chapters. It was nice, and definitely needed. I imagine things are going to start ramping up again real soon, what with the interrogation and the imminent arrival at the Dragon March. That's going to be a nail biter, I bet. Bring it. :D

Alyssa has officially been confirmed as a Progenitor. Awesome. That opens up a whole lot of new possibilities. Looking forward to seeing where that goes. As other commenters have mentioned, I kinda wonder if Alyssa would be able to create thralls of her own, and how? Her anatomy doesn't exactly allow for her to do it the same way John does, but there must be a way. Or is that simply something female Progenitors don't do?

Also, if John is able to create Progenitors, and their subconscious alter egos, I imagine that John should be able to do the same with his eventual offspring, choosing when they are conceived if they will be Progenitors or not, and hopefully giving them not-evil alter egos like Athena.

Here's a thought...can Jade control where her heart-crystal is located in her body? That way she can put it somewhere other than where a heart would normally be located in case she faces another opponent who aims for that spot.

Hmm, female Progenitor. I suppose, that the question is, has there been a female Progenitor before? You would assume that there had been at some point. The species had to come from somewhere....

I would assume (and all that entails) that a female would use breast milk for her control/modifications. That would indicate that either she needs to be pregnant, or she can produce it on command.

Now, being a fem-progen, does/will she have a "matriarch/patriarch"? We could assume that with the "milk", she can create thralls also, and heal, etc.

Timeline? Just go with it, unless it is a HUGE glaring error of days lol.....

The armor shaping.. Well, until now, only Alyssa has been reshaping, John hasn't done much. Also, we got hints of the "true" power of an unleashed Progenitor when PJ was running amok. With Athena stepping in for Alyssa, the full power of a Progen stepped up and reshaped the armor as needed. I think Alyssa will take a bit more time to get to that point, and john has a ways to go also. John is still handicapped with his "view of life", and also the the power expended to keep PJ at bay.

I think Alyssa and John thrall linked each other. That is what the double connection is.

The need to make more thralls Alyssa can delegate to John if he is her thrall.

But she could make more thralls. Breast milk seems likely but I think Edraele could tell her how to make thralls without a quad. She is adopting a bunch of Maliri Matriarch girls. Just a gentle mind fuck is enough. You don't seem to need to blast loads of come down their throat. The ladies just seem to prefer it and it gives extra power for healing and transformation.

Again another brilliant chapter, can hardly wait for the next chapter and hope to see Faye with a body soon.

I have been thinking about the parasite ship currently docked to the invictus. I am not sure about its size, but considering it houses a cryostasis unit, an active cloaking system, and a powerful communication relay, I suppose it must contain a pretty beefy power core and it must be significantly bigger than a dropship or fighter like the Raptor. That should be quite a significant mass.

Either the Invictus does not have a warning system for close proximity objects in hyperwarp like the other ship, or it maybe relies on the radar, but shouldnt the attached ship throw off the hyperwarp path? Or at least significantly raise the power or fuel usage as the navigation system constantly has to correct the orientation of the ship?

I guess Alyssa has not flown the ship manually yet after the intrusion and Dana is not experienced enough to 'feel' that something is tugging on the ship (she was the one to bring the Invictus in firing position right?), but as soon as either Jade or Alyssa pilots the ship in the Dragon March they should know.

Also the assassin might have surpressed the docking warning on the bridge, but shouldn't the docking doors not have other sensors like an atmospheric pressure sensor that would prevent the docking doors from opening if the pressure on both sides is not equal? Wouldn't those sensors show up somewhere?

Concerning the Assassin dropship. It is no longer connected to the Invictus. The assassin used it to take John to her master's ship and he subsequently used it to escape before his battle cruiser was blown to shreds by the Invictus. Also, I am sure the tachyon 'bubble' created moves as a unit through hyperspace. The battle cruiser has a different class/type of FTL drive so I am sure the sensors and possible drag issues would work diferently.

Umm...ever notice that restaurants no longer sing the traditional happy birthday song? It is because it is copywrited. Not an issue for family birthday parties......but in something you are wanting to eventually publish....a big no-no. Might want to fix that.

Nothing is docked with the Invictus at the moment.

It's a tiny 2 man shuttle, about the same size as a light fighter. The Raptor is a gunship and quite large for a strike craft (30 metres in length).

The shuttle was cloaked when it approached at sub-light speed. The Gunship was approaching in hyper-warp and wasn't equipped with a cloaking device.

Seems to me, sinch Alyssa has John's thralls under her already....and about to have Edraele and her thralls under her as well (assumption but seems a natural conclusion since they are going to attempt to create a mental bond next time they meet) I am thinking the whole making thralls issue is moot.

Now think for a moment: The Raptor with the upgraded power core and FTL drive...now being impervious to laser weapons, with armor that is about 14 times stronger than the titanium shielding on Terran vessels (Dana gave numbers of 10 times based upon just 8 shapings...not the 11actual) able to survive ramming straight through ANY OTHER SHIP IN THE CURRENT UNIVERSE (possible exception with the Trankarans)...you now have a mosquito that can fly holes through other ships....think about that for a moment. An intelligent and exqusitely manuverable mass driver.........Holy Game Changer Batman!

Without the new gravity core I would say the Raptor dies ramming against larger ships.

World of Tanks had a complicated formula for tanks ramming tanks. Thickness of armour can protect you but you really need a heavier tank to do damage to your target. Scout tanks with high speeds will ram a heavy tank and die without causing any damage. All they achieve is making hilarious YouTube videos from the game replays. The Mighty Jingles is particularly fond of compiling them into episodes called "You are doing it wrong!"

With the new Dana magic Gravity Core? The crew could survive possibly. They would need to Spin last minute so that they do not hit cockpit first. The Raptor is still scrap metal.

Alyssa is a special case as a pilot, or at least Athena is.

She can fly behind a telekinetic storm that turns the Raptor into a Ship shredder.

She can just tear holes through the target. She can tear apart and use the target's armour as a weapon to grind the enemy ship up and wad it up like used Kleenex.

Anon on the ramming. You are absolutely correct given similar materials....But with a now exponential increase (to the 14th power) in material strength it would be more like a 360 Weatherby Magnum bullet going through an Elephant. Elephant steak anyone?

Also, Tefler. I am wondering if there is a math error. Something that is 10 times (multiplication) stronger seems to be an exponential growth rate...not linear. Linear would be adding the same amount over and over again. So if reshaping made it twice as strong as Titanium (which is what happened with the etherite crystal and one shaping) ....reshaping 8 times, would only make it 9 times stronger on a linear regression. I seem to recall you saying each reshaping increased the strength by less than that each time. Exponentially, if reshaping made it only 1.335 times as strong reshaping 8 times would make it 10 times as strong (which would be in line with the exponentially harder effort required each reshaping). So doing that 11 times actually makes the armor 24 times stronger (1.335^11). Of course, adding the Maliri crystal tech made a huge jump in strength...2 inches as effective as a foot if I remember correctly. So adding the crystal tech to the double shaped Alyssium should have made the armor 6 times as relilient as the Alyssium which was already double the Titanium with just one shaping...making it 12 times stronger than Titanium just with that...so I am a bit confused on the math.

I started reading this story because of my cum inflation fetish, I kept reading because the balance between sex scenes and story was perfect for edging myself, but at this point I don't even read this story to get off I am genuinely interested in the characters and the story. More revelations and wow, super cool how Alyssa has developed! I guess the question of a cock and quad had to be asked. In my mind it would be hot except, not in the context of John being in the picture. If it did take place, it would have to be one of those "off to the side" encounters, like John was busy with Edraele and Alyssa and Jade go off and make white-haired Maliri for hours at a time. (her refractory period is deminimus, dozens of full bellies in just a days' time)

I really like the way things are going with Faye. Somehow it reminds me of the beginning of Mass Effect 3, so let me just say I'm calling it, Faye was planning on gunning down what could become her future chassis. Let's just hope her junk is intact. ;)

When Alyssa went on the warpath, I must say, I started to really enjoy it. A virtually invincible Raptor also opens up some interesting tactical options for the upcoming Dragon March scenarios. Can't wait!

So here's a "what if?" out of left field: what if Admiral Norwood isn't actually a traitor? What if he's been acting on orders from TFed Command? What if those orders were actually a ploy by TFed Command to make the Kintark think that there was a traitor helping them among the Terran ranks, convincing the Kintark to commit to a operation and over extend themselves, leaving them vulnerable to this big push that the Terrans are about to make? What if...?

If all of that is true, it would make sense that Admiral Deveraux and Vice Admiral Charles wouldn't know about it because they're outside the area of operations, hence don't have a need to know. Such a ploy would only work if the absolute minimum number of people knew it was a ruse, so that in the event that there were indeed true traitors among the ranks, it would look all the more convincing. Sure, the risk of this op is high and the losses seemingly unacceptable for many, but the potential payoff should this gamble work could be astronomical. Someone at TFed Command must've done a cost-benefit analysis of such a stunt at some point.

Of course, it's doubtful anyone's taken John and his crew into account in this plan, so it might turn out that he'll end up causing the whole thing to backfire. Or he could be the guy who tips the scales, makes the plan a brilliant success, and reduces the number of predicted casualties significantly.

Here's the final what if: what if it was TFed Command who hired the assassin in an effort to keep John from interfering with the plan?

I've pretty much given up on speculating about what's going to happen next and just satisfy myself with waiting for the next chapter. I do have a few thoughts about mechanics though.

I actually prefer this shorter format. I think that when the chapters get long one tends to worry about providing too many details and dragging on, but the details are what make the series great. Shorter chapters allow you to delve into the nitty gritty of this world a little bit at a time, and provide more substantive content, and on a more regular schedule.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm a fan of keeping all of the sex in the story. It is posted on Literotica after all, but also, sex is at the crux of most of the factors driving this story. It is a critical plot point as it relates to the Progenitors and John's growing harem of powerful babes, and it reinforces relationships around which the story revolves. All that said, as a writer I know it can be challenging to write long and numerous sex scenes without feeling like you're scraping the bottom of the barrel. I appreciate the sort of "setup" approach you've been using in recent chapters, where you set the scene for the sex and skip forward, but I still think being part of the actual sex scene is valuable. For example, the first sex scene with Jade in this one: it didn't have to be very long, but it was tender and detailed, and I think the story is better for it. They don't all have to be 3 page long stroke sessions, but I think seeing the sex allows us to see the connection. Of course, with your skill, I wouldn't mind seeing you turn your abilities towards a 3 page stroke session every now and then lol

Ok I lied I am going to speculate a little bit. From what Tefler has said about Faye in past comments I doubt that she'll be transitioning to lovebot any time soon. I know other fans like the idea but it really doesn't suit her character just yet. She is fascinated by sex and the way it brings the crew together, so it makes sense that she would be curious about it, but I think if she is going to develop in that direction it will be slower and more organic (lol). She is too naive, too inexperienced with the world, and still getting her feet under her. Besides, it's cool to have a character with different motives and goals. It would be fascinating for her to develop a relationship with Irillith though, considering Irillith is the only one she can actually touch.

The "Alyssa is a Progenitor" revelation has an interesting implication: unless there is some limitation that hasn't been laid out yet, it seems possible that John could make ANYONE a Progenitor. The entire crew, and every girl they bring on after, could become just as unimaginably powerful as Progenitor John and Athena, given enough time. This would of course be completely plot breaking so I'm interested to see how Tefler sidesteps that

back in the 50's we used to go to the theater on Saturdays and they would have cereals where they would stop the movie and you had to wait till next week for it to see you the next episode it was Dreadful anticipation but I loved it then and I love it now hurry with that next chapter please

Appreciate the mystery of radiant Alyssa being disclosed. I am hoping that they can turn the assassin and add to the harem. Character development in this series is superb - can't help but love the girls in the harem and for that matter the turned matriarch.

The last three or four chapters have me reeling. Are there two Malarnic,s or is John the only one, I'm not counting Allysa at this time. Have I confused the assassins ship with another progenitor during the kintark fight, way back in chapter .....

Hanging on to this series its Outstanding

...that following their M.O. other progenitor(s)" have been fomenting evil by switching on thralls with the purpose of ruling each of the main civilizations. They helped the Drakkar attack the Ashanath (who immediately recognized and sided with John in the fight they see coming.) The Progenitors came very near re-capturing the Maliri empire (that being Progenitor John of course,) and I think that John will rule the Maliri in any case. The Trankaran thrall was well on her way to controlling their civilization before Progenitor John stopped that. Remember that many of these races were actually created by Progenitors with the purpose of being their army.

I think that both the Kintark and Terran civilizations have thralls turned on (other than John's thralls) who are guiding key individuals in each of their armed forced, with the purpose of weakening each other, so that the progenitor behind the scenes can rule both of these civilizations.

My guess is that 10,000 years ago the Progenitor "race" (might just be two of them) had divied up known space, controlling each of these races. Then something happened and Progenitors went away. Then recently something happened and "they" seem to be jockeying for position in another upcoming confrontation?

Love your work by the way, but what are the chances that Faye and the cyborg will have a unique relationship......?????????

From what did Athena defend John in his dreams when he added a new girl?? Guess I'll have to wait for the next explanation chapter.

Yeah.... .460. Was a typo....thanks for the correction.

I actually own one that I personally accurized and micro/mirror polished the barrel (gun enthusiast is one of my hobbies) and reload my own with a 450 grain solid copper hollow point with a progressively burning powder (cartridge is about 3.75 inches long and almost .6 of an inch wide at the base). And yes....it is an awesome weapon. Have to shoot solid copper or brass bullets because lead will just melt in the barrel. Mine will now do .25 MOA 3 shot groups consistantly from a rest...which is about half the diameter of the bullet itself. It chrono's at 2,600 fps +/- 5 fps at the muzzle. I use fire formed brass, benchrest primers, and measure the powder down to the grain to get that accuracy level.

So, yeah...I know about the .460 ;-)

I think she helped him when Progenitor John was trying to become dominant every time he added a girl to the crew. They did agree it was a psychic attack but not sure exactly what it was.

Has there been a update letting us know how 62 is coming along. I had been figuring since Rachel revealed Alyssa dna was the same triple helix as John's. I loved how he subconsciously created a female progenitor and as far as we have seen is there has been a female progenitor depicted in history shown by the ashanath. So either the females ruled them and did none for the destruction or they were the science of the races and tech. Athena was a really nice touch stating Alyssa is not ready to merge yet but makes me wonder if part of it is she is still helping keep pjohn in the prison. Thank you for also mentioning Rachel rank.

It almost felt like the website itself recognized that this story was unlike anything else it would ever host... and it was right :)

If Athena can help, should John be able to wring out Evil John and avoid carrying that mountain?

It would also be nice to own the knowledge of all of those skills. Superspeed for example is a skill that would help make Yamamoto a believer when he asks for a rematch.

To be honest I think we will find out that the assassin is related to Yomamoto. Either his daughter that was his star pupil turned on him by his old pupil, the master assassin. Or it is his wife that the master assassin took from him making him a bitter relic bent on revenge. Either way her body would not be a good body for Faye. I think that Dana will use part of the tech as a guide to making Faye a body and it will probably be purple with wings ;).

I agree with you about the Yamamoto connection.

Also: Dana has said she is almost finished with the 'special project' so I just cannot see Faye taking over the assassin's body. That would also not be an in-character thing for John. I can see some behavioral modification and a spirit-walk mind trip, however.

As for the assassin being part of the crew later....possible. I see her as being turned back into her original personality...or with an overridden one...and assisting in tracking the master assassin down...but after that kind of depends upon any Yamamato connection. If Alyssa can make the Raptor indestructible, Dana should be able to make the body armor indestructible as well.

I just binge-watched season two of Syfy channels "Dark Matter". It has an AI but it is totally different then what I see as Faye's character. Faye to me is kind of a cross between Smurfette and early Data from STNG. Putting her into a clunky robot chassis would not be justice but would let her get out and about. There is already holo emitters on the maintenance bots to let her get around the ship. Just my two cents... Maybe Dana could come up with a chassis worthy enough.

I think the surprise for Faye is that they will start to have equipped the whole ship with the tech from the training room and Faye can form holoforce bodies when she wants to be physically present.

because assassin was way too damaged. n make it like Mass Effect 3 where faye is in the ship but using the body as well n syncing up whenever she comes back.

I rather like the "Andromeda" style... The AI is the ship, and the girl.... I can't remember how they got the body to sync with the ship (yeah "wifi" duh). I mean I don't remember how the body came about.

I'm a big fan of Red Dwarf as well. I started watching it on BBC2 when it first aired back in the nineties, and began watching it from Series 3 onwards. I've watched all of it multiple times since then, and it still gives me a good laugh!

One of the characters in this story was very much inspired by a character from Red Dwarf. I wonder if you can guess who it is? :-)

I've finished chapter 62! It's slightly bigger than a normal chapter, weighing in at 24.5k words, which is probably about 7 pages on literotica. I've handed it over to the editors, and hopefully I'll be able to submit it to this site and Patreon by about tomorrow evening.

I have a few predictions: and I am posting prior to release so there are no real spoilers here.

First: John and Co., with their extended sensors, come up on a battle about to start or in progress and they see the flanking manuever by the enemy before it has a chance to trap the Terran forces in a deadly crossfire.

Second: The Raptor is sent to protect Dad and Bro while the Invictus goes to intercept the flanking ships.

Third: Admiral Norwood and his cronies are in charge of the reserve forces, who never engage.

Fourth: Admiral Norwood actively attempts to hinder John and Co.

Fifth: After obviously saving everyone's arse: John and the girls get an audience and present their case.

Sixth: Admiral Norwood's cronies position themselves to hold the remaining Terran fleet as hostages to free Norwood and destroy the remaining fleet.

Seventh: John and the girls have a plan to interceed with the Invictus piloted by Jade and the Raptor piloted by Faye.

Sixth: Admiral Norwood and his cronies attack the remaining Terran forces and are eventually destroyed to a man.

Any comments?

I would be shot and then fired if I commented regarding the comparison of your predictions to Ch62.

That the story builds so much anticipation and invites these kinds of guessing contests is just one level of the popularity that keeps growing.

I will tell you the editing seems to get easier each chapter, so it is hopefully also getting faster. You should not need to wait long.

I can see Kryten, Rimmer, and Lister in many of them but I think Kochanski resembles Calarra. Alyssa could be Listers embodiment of the perfect Kochanski. None of them are vain enough to be Cat.

I would be one egging them on if you let out a spoiler...lol. I was specifically attempting to get some of those not 'in the know' to comment to see how close we were....kind of like betting on a sports game or bragging rites...lol. No insiders allowed... ;-)

When the Assassin's ship mated with the Invictus, it was not yet at the jump point. However, it WAS using the enhanced engines at higher-than normal power/acceleration. This would have had a DRAMATIC effect on the Assassin while in their ship (prior to boarding the Invictus). *OOPS*! (Ain't inertia a *bitch!*?)

Since there was _only_ a (one-sided, stealthy) docking attachment between the ships, there would either have been engineering alerts from the Invictus' engineering computers about the resulting mass imbalance, or disastrous consequences for the assassin's ship since it was not equipped with the same technology to deal with the inertial consequences of the Trakkaran engines' power.

Now, I've only recently started to read this series, and I must say you have built and interesting universe here. There have been some fascinating parts, and some parts that have strained either credulity and/or internal consistency, but not quite to the breaking point. It has been an interesting exercise to read all this in a compressed time frame.

My biggest bone of contention is that despite the enhanced intellects of Dana and the other crew members, some of the time-frames for "discovering"/developing, implementing, achieving and installing the technological breakthroughs in their possession are entirely, unfathomably unrealistic - even for them!

I also have several issues with the whole "Evil/corrupt AIs" subplot, but I've made allowances for some of that under the "suspension of disbelief" umbrella. That said, "psychically reactive materials"? That one is kind of a big pill to swallow. Heck, about the only area of "Classic Sci-Fi" you haven't ventured into here is time travel! So, when will we be getting to that part? ;-)

Rommie was built by Harper. First seen (naked, sadly none of the interesting bits) at the end of "To Loose the Fateful Lightning". There is an amusing exchange between the two at the beginning of the episode "Double Helix" regarding Harper's inclusion of "certain features that, strictly speaking, aren't necessary for my normal operations."

Harper also builds the avatar for the (Un)Balance of Judgement in the episode "Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath". Although on that occasion, "In all the, er, rush to build you, I sort of forgot to make you anatomically correct. Don't worry about it, though, you make up for it with your personality."

Is anyone else worried about what we will do once this astonishing story draws to a close?

1) the inertia nullification field extends slightly beyond the invictus' hull. The ship is angular, whereas the field is broadly an oval. The shuttle was enveloped in the field, so the assassin felt no Ill-effects from the trankaran engines.

2) unfortunately I've misplaced my chart showing research durations scaled by progenitor cum ingested, so you'll have to forgive me if the timings are a little off. ;-)

3) psychically reactive materials... Wraithbone from warhammer40k. i always liked the idea of Eldar warlocks using their minds to shape wraithbone, but I'm sorry if you aren't a fan.

4) I cover time travel in "setting sail on a Black Sea", but I don't plan on including it in this series.
