Pretty good story -

Just one little observation. I will assume that your "single malt" was a Scotch. That being said, "scotch whisky" is spelled without the "E". That being said, the statement of a "single malt whiskey" would be incorrect. Some memories stick around for a LONG time! I was told that at the same time I was informed that the flavor of Scotch comes from the peat that smokes the barrels.

A Correction

To Many Memories: The Peat is used to dry the barley as it is allowed to germinate to create the sugars that are fermented. That is where the "Peat" Flavor is introduced to the Whiskey. To my knowledge the Peat smoke is not used to "Flavor the casks"
