this is the way you see it

And offering your perspective to the reader is what a poet should strive to do.
It's a nice poem, but I was thinking of something that would be interesting for you to try. Devote a stanza or two to each stage of your life and to the woman, or women, who were in your life at that time. If there is no one, make it up--you're a poet. :)
You start with your teens and boys with fancy cars. Maybe... Ann was the apple of your eye, but Ann loved the boys with Mustangs, and all you had was a used Pinto. Describe Ann, the way she flirted, the way she broke your heart, etc. This kind of story and those kind of details will surely stick with your readers, and be a joy for you to write about--I hope. :)
