WOW!

I don't necessarily agree with your ethical point of view, but I can't argue with the power of your words.

I agree that this needs to be read by a much wider audience. Would you mind if I sent it to some friends, and perhaps (credit given) posted it on another website?

Bless you for your talent and your vision!

So incredibly intense.

As someone who was adopted and lost a child of my own, I am so terribly saddened when things like this happens.

I support a woman's right to choose, but some things just strike me as horriblly wrong, and this is one of those things.

Thank you for writing with such feeling and intensity.

I am not a fan.....

....of Bush or pro-lifers but this type of abortion is appalling and barbaric, not just for the horror of the foetus but for the mother. I commend you, Boo, for tackling this subject.

Oh my

I wasn't sure what this was about until you gave an explanation. Then I wanted to hurl. Sadly enough, this poem could have described so many women in so many underdeveloped countries. So painfully descriptive. An excellent piece.

I can't say anything more...

than what has already been said. This is truly horrifying. A definition of inhumanity.

Your Political Stance

Your last three lines give me the right to leave a critical comment, it was certainly powerful and well written, but you then step away from artistic expression and delve into artistic propaganda.
If you think partial birth abortions are about crushing children's heads in, then you are mistaken. The government's attempt to supercede medical practice by eliminating the right of the doctor to even attempt to save the mother's life if there is a complication and contractions begin, however premature, if there is indication a vaginal birth is proceeding, even if some stop gap measures can be used to save both the mother and baby. The law didn't even affect late term abortions, it just made the deadline earlier, because partial birth abortions of formed fetuses was already illegal. You extrapolate one hypothetical and false case to extend to all cases of abortion, and it's wrong and dangerous to take that stance.
I voted on this poem and gave it a 4, because it was powerful. I disagree with your message, but I think you used it effectively, but I would also like to comment on the last line.
What is enlightenment? When other people determine your course to enlightenment, it's usually not called enlightenment, rather oppression. In this case, it is the right of the mother, child, and doctor to find a path to enlightenment, not our job to use a blanketed generalization to determine the most efficient and moral course of action.
