...close to being worth a five. Not by a long shot. too far removed from mainstream reading / writng style.

Not mainstream reading style is just why this is worth a five. The severity of the inner dialogue does so much to set the tone. Completely appropriate to the story and action. What is implied is stronger than what could be described.
