Tthat chapter has me stumped. No reference at all to the previous 13 . Last time they were moving home, this chapter there are no matching names ,places or anything else interdimention travel aftrr some student heard something on a radio/tranciever then loads of other scientists get involved. Very good story but surely should have its very own title as seems to have nothing to do with the original. Great start to something else entirly.
I will admit that I have always been curious on how all these furry girls came to be on the same world. So now we know how that came to pass. But I think it would have been better. If the characters were all talking on how their species came to interact with humans. Then he could have done like a flash back episode on how it was all made possible.
from non human to Sci /Fi fantasy ? this seems like it should be in your Penumbrials realm....?
I don't think you're alone, and I expected it. -)
This is a stand alone episode and I wanted it right where it is. I'm just weird that way. :-p
You have to look at this series like a tv series, each chapter is its own story, but following a larger arc.
And I wanted a reasonable scientific explanation on how the different species came into contact in the first place, something readers were wondering about as well, and this episode was the result.
It's one thing that I have over Monster Musume. ;-)
And I might have Nuha and Min make a cameo on later episodes. :-)
I pondered about doing this as a flashback or have someone explain it specifically to the girls, but I didn't think this episode could be told in this way by anyone. I wanted it to be its own episode in the Daily series as experienced more or less from Nuha's point of view.
There will be some episodes about other characters, while still playing out in the Daily Life universe. And those characters will have been introduced before, or make cameos later.
Daily life is everything, non-human, science fiction, fantasy, romance, comedy, drama not planned though. That's the trouble with single choices on story category, none of my stories fit in just one :-/ .
PENUMBRIALS plays out in a parallel setting to Daily Life and the first contact there is based on the same principle, but developed in a different way.
I haven't planned on writing about that, but maybe I'll mention it in passing later.
I love your work and well understand the problems of where to fit a story into a category. Like others I wonder how it ties into the Furry Girls but you see the future of the story where I can only see the past.
Praise from a popular author makes me proud. :-)
The tie-in is its history. Readers wanted to know where the other species came from and I wanted a reasonably scientific explanation. I liked it best to make it a seperate episode.
And I probably will do things like this more often. I'm like the Spanish Inquisition, unexpected. ;-)
Wow! Well seeing the earlier comments, I feel relieved and the same time excited! Waiting is the only option I have though. Any possibility a chapter could reach beyond 2 pages? Then again, it's like a trademark in the series to have 2 pages at most. Gritting teeth in excitement for the release of next chapter.
Each episode's plot is rather simple and makes for around 4000 words. Longer episodes I split in two like the one at Mami's family, which became 20 and 21.
That word count only makes for two pages here.
I've written two volumes and one and a half episode for volume three so far on Patreon, so there's still plenty to come.
Unfortunately troubles cause me to be less online and leave less time to write, so updates are going to be erratic.
Thanks. I had less stress and more time for an extra edit of the second volume episodes and it shows. I still need to go over it again though but that will only be seen in the ebooks then.
Beautiful, just beautiful... I love it when "First Contact" stories go so right.
